Very Cool Dave !! Maybe I missed it ? But how much CR are you gonna shoot for and that new bump stick is what as far as lift and duration ?
I have always liked too see what I guy could put together after a few year in racing or building..Just to see what they could do with spare parts just laying sround ! Cant wait to see what you really get out of this build and what the final Tab will be ?

Re: Project Cheap Skate - Revision 1
It is going to have some Compression in the 12:1+ range, so its not going to be a friendly 87 octane grocery getter, but it will make the power numbers and should have a good broad range also, not a peaky "Race Engine".
Cam Specs are 258/264 @ .050 with .655/.655 Lift on a 108
Anybody care to put this info in Desk top and make some predictions? Guesses anyone?

When you get a chance, post some air flow numbers for the heads so I can create and air flow file and we'll see what the software I have says. It only missed mine by about 10hp and 15 ftlb. Cool project Dave.
Re: Project Cheap Skate - Revision 1
Sure will. These have had some port work, I have to search around and find some stock a429 flows to see how good these ones are.

Re: Project Cheap Skate - Revision 1
Got the head back From Blake, everything looks good, need to install a heicoil and get the valve job done. May flow them the weekend of the Bash at Mikes.
Add $75 to the Cost to Date $1897 + $75 = $1972
Still Need to Machine the Block, Get some bearings and an Intake.
I have a set of 2" Dyno Headers and an Old 1050 to test out.
I also saw some nice looking tall aluminum Valve Covers on Ebay I may scoop up. the where about $75.

Re: Project Cheap Skate - Revision 1
Bringing the heads with me to the bash and hoping to do a valve job and flow them.
Been busy getting the car together, paying the IRS (mother F'n robbers) and working on getting a house........ Have my eye on one but don't have as much down money as I'd like.

Re: Project Cheap Skate - Revision 1
Hears what the heads ended up flowing. As you can see a quality performance valve job is worth its weight in gold, I have not touched the intake ports except for the valve job. The valve job that was on these appeared to have only 2 angles and a sharp ridge, but the portwork itself looked rather nice. Lesson here is you get what you pay for in a valve job cost of the valve job $225
it should also be noted the intake valves on the befor did not have a backcut and the after numbers java a light backcut Nd that is also contributing to the excelent intake flows.
intake before valve job / after valve job.

exhaust before, after number are affected by a big ridge that need to be blended out, I'll post numbers after I get after them as the after numbers with the ridge where about the same as before. I expect improvements into the low 200's after I finish blending them.
