Re: 2009 EMC Motors
High score and current leader is Team 17, Performance Crankshaft with 2592 points. It's my understanding that this is the BES engine that was runner up last year, which has been upgraded with a roller cam, and another point of compression. Can't remember the induction - might have a tunnel ram.
There was another engine over 2500 points, and that was the Team 21 MPG Ford with 2504 points.

Looks like Chevy 1 and 2. Fords are 3,4,5,7, and 8. Olds in 6th. Hope Jon Kaase has some power.

MAYBE ANOTHER FORD ......
..... could place well if Charlie's and Dave's engine (Wedge 385) were allowed to get up on stage! Unless I stand corrected, if Charlie's/Dave's engine is NOT ALLOWED to be dyno'd, it will be the first time in EMC history an alternate/entry did not make the show (allowed to dyno)! Now mind you if this information is correct, it's pretty sad anyone who puts forth the effort that is required to participate in the EMC can't at least tie up to the dyno! Please correct me if I'm wrong!
Just my $0.02!
Dave.

Re: 2009 EMC Motors
Jon Kaase in first place withe the "small" Cleveland motor. The Boss 9 made 850 HP in warm up but fell off a bit in the test pull to end up in 6th spot.

Re: 2009 EMC Motors
Mine and Mikes 432" Kaase Boss make 706hp, kinda wierd to make the same as last year as the motor was up substantaly over last years combo. Didn't get to run the wedge because every one showed up and teched fine, we where a "Day late and a dollar short" so to speak.......but we where the next in line if something happened, The motor would have scored in the 2400's and was a great effort by everyone involved, but thier is always next year.......

EMC Non-Qualifier(s).
Damon asked:
"More details please Dave, I'm not up to speed on the rules with EMC.
Thanks"
Damon, maybe it's best that Dave Freeloader explains it in this response.

Regardless of the reason, best regards to Charlie for his unrewarded and enormous amount of work and expense that went into the project.
Just pissin,
Dave.

EMC DYNO
It was brought to my attention during conversations related of the EMC, that most engines were down on power relative to each teams numbers prior to EMC. The bigger the engine (powerful) the greater the difference!

Interesting? Different dyno's producing different numbers? Or back to the exhaust efficency deal?

Re: 2009 EMC Motors
Did anyone know what the exhaust was going to look like before the competition?
If it was known about, could there have been something done to counter the choked up ex? Maybe diff cam timing?

Re: 2009 EMC Motors
Two major things actually. I was told that in previous years the DTS dyno people who were in charge until this year, jacked the numbers up slightly to draw attention to their brand dyno and the magazine people allowed it because the higher numbers looked good in print.
This year the numbers were EXACT and just about EVERYBODY was a LOT rich with the fuel mixture there so, the exhaust was probably making the numbers a little lower also - the sum is that EVERYBODY was down from wherever they came from.
I did my usual "take a chance" thing as I didn't have near enough points so, I changed a bunch of stuff during the final tune as time ran out and HOPED it would work however, that score was almost 70 points down from the tunes during the "tune-up" runs just before ... oh well.

Re: 2009 EMC Motors
So, was the whole experience a good one?
I'm sure the competition is um, aggressive, but is it a cool event to attend?
What was the final score?

Re: 2009 EMC Motors
The actual competition IS stressful however, the camradrie among all the contestants there and their teams is a real pleasure to be part of; the most enjoyable full week of my year.

I bet there is a lot of pressure to get everything just right in 20 minutes. That sure don't give much time!!
Glad you enjoyed!!
