Re: Engine....................
I think that's what it is called It really does help keep heat in the oil between pulls.
Re: Engine....................
Guys,
This engine made excellent power and torque throughout it's rpm range. IMO it is the best 598 single carb, A-460 headed engine that has ever been on the dyno here in Owensboro. Phillip, Lem, and Lawes have a right to be proud of their efforts. Congratulations!

Re: Engine....................
Charlie thanks for the compliments and Charlie was also involved in the build. This was certainly a great engine to be involved in the build as the customer was great to work with. At this time I dont think the customer wants to be recognized or the particulars on the build. Not trying to be smart just respecting our customer. I will say that Charlie and Lawes were in control of all the head modifications and all 4 of us had a lot of input on those. Pretty cool to work with these guys and we are all still alive.

We also dyno with the customers ignition box as you see hanging behind the engine. This is not always possible but try to do it when we can.

Re: Engine....................
Did you make any pulls without the vacuum pump to see the HP differences?

Re: Engine....................
No. the best way to do that test i.m.o. would be pump vs. header evac. The Valve covers are not compatable with the evac breathers. 7" hg was all the engine saw. Phillip and I are not big fans of a lot of vac. with the wet in pan pump set up.
The test I'd like to see , but never will, is how much more power would the same package make with an iron block.

Well, none the less, it is quite impressive.

The iron block is more rigid, allows tighter clearances, better ring seal and less losses due flex in the block.

Re: Engine....................
It certainly was in this case....I'd like to have seen another 20* of oil temp. for sure for the extra power.
