Re: My new 528 combo
Sounds on par. My old combo went 10.51@129.29 but converter was too tight and not enough gear. The MPH on my last pass doesn't really tell anything with the spinning on the launch and plugs half fouled through the 1/8. MPH at the 1/8 was off about 10 mph from the first pass to the second. I/we think it woulda pulled ~142-145 had the plugs not fouled.
Saturday the bars will be down one hole and carbs cleaned but plan on clicking it off at the 1000' due to the brakes.

Been working on that every week. I got it finished at 12:23am Sunday morning this weekend and the last weekend I went I worked until 4:36am Sunday morning to get it to the track. It had been getting frustrating working that hard and not seeming to get anywhere. That was a major reason I decided to take a weekend off and slow down a bit. I made some drastic changes in the suspension for Sunday and very pleased that it worked, not perfectly but I made a HUGE step in the right direction. I figure mid September I will have the new tires and my licensing passes in so I should be able to get after it. I want to get it going down the track safely before I have Rich set it on Kill (he has a safe tune in it for now).

Re: My new 528 combo
How Light do you think you can make your truck? Before my dads car burnt down it went 8.63@154 at 2665lbs with a 525ci old ford A headed motor 14.6:1 compression and a cam on the small side.
Also why not update the brakes. In a full body car 3400lbs going 135-140mph we stop just fine with no chute. Strange disc brakes all the way around.

Re: My new 528 combo

Re: My new 528 combo
I got 2 passes in, first one the tb button didn't make a good contact and the pass sucked (red lighted), second pass got about a revolution of tire spin and shut it down at the 1000' line. It was slow to go up against the brake and after talking with Rich I went to check the throttle linkage and found it was only getting a little past half throttle because the cable was pulling out of the end. I fixed that then went back to the staging lanes and I had one car in front of me to get in the burnout box I rapped it to clean out the plugs and the cable broke. I am converting it over to a rod and heim joint linkage today and going back out to finish my licensing passes next weekend.

Shoulda listened to Rich from the beginning!
Finished converting the throttle over to a rod style Saturday no more shitty cable to give me problems! Made a new throttle pedal to go along with the 1/4" rod and heim joints and man does it work smoothly now. Funny thing is the Moroso return spring kits came with 4 springs 2 light and 2 heavier ones and I had put the light ones on with the cable and it was still stiff as hell to operate now thinking the stiffer ones are going back on with how easily it operates now.
I have 3 licensing passes left to make 1 1/8 mile pass and 2 9 second passes so next weekend gonna do a nice easy footbrake 1/8 mile pass then gonna hold it on the board through the 1/4 and see what she runs with the current tune. Had just a hint of wheelspin on the last pass but was at 12.5psi testing the suspension, gonna start at 10.5psi Sunday.

check and see if you have full throttle BEFORE you go!!!!
Also, try and get some video of that thing. You get that ladder bar right you may be able to come up on pressure. Just a thought....

Stopped by Smith Oil Company today and picked up a 5 gallon pail of Sunoco Maximal 116 and gonna double check the lash tomorrow night after work then gonna load it on the trailer and take it down to the car show at the local cruise night. Will load it back on trailer to go to the track Sunday morning.

Done for the year!
Looks like I either blew the converter or the front pump in the trans, I did not get to finish my licensing passes as this happened on my first sub 9 second attempt. I was a little upset thinking omg I need to get this back together yet this year to finish my comp license passes, but my attitude changed quite a bit as I was getting ready to strap the truck down to go home. Jason and Rich have been saying the sidwalls on my tires were shot and I have been resistant to buy new ones wanting to get the suspension working first. Well, as I was walking to the back of the trailer I stopped and looked at the tires and noticed the sidewalls were torn. Not a rip from scrubbing the fenders (I have plenty of clearance) but about 2 inch away from the tread the complete circumfrence of the tires inside and out, the sidewalls are cracked. They were not this way before today (atleast not visibly) so I am gonna look at this as a blessing in disguise.
We knew the gearing and converter were wrong once we got it scaled and were planning on changing this over the winter but I wanted to wait to see if I was gonna need a larger tire or not. Good news is it hooks with the 28 tall tires so I think I am gonna stick with this due to going with a larger tire will put me in the middle of a wide gear ratio gap available for the 8.8. I have a bunch of things that were rushed that I want to straighten out over winter so I guess I will get a head start now.
The motor is going to Rich's once I get it pulled to be gone through and check the thrust on the crank as I was informed that blowing a converter will usually take out the thrust bearing.
This whole build has been a huge learning experience and made some good friends along the way. This thing makes amazing power and have barely tapped into it yet and can't wait til next year when I can apply all the things that I have learned.
Thank you to all who have helped!!!
