Re: My new 528 combo
sounds like you are down on power you need another 20 mph to run in the 8's hope you can tune that much. the 60's will come but a 20 mph pick up is alot

Re: My new 528 combo
OK guys, it was loading up the plugs in the staging lanes and didn't clean out til the top end of second gear just shy of the 1/8 mile. Jason and Rich think I may have sucked something into the air bleeds, I am gonna clean the carbs out this week, the 60' was low because it spun, I was pleased regardless because it was carrying the front tires about 3-4 inchs off the ground as it was spinning and going forward, I believe I finally have some useful data to work with. I am thinking of lowering the bars one hole to stop the spinning.
The truck is heavy! Probably won't get into the 8's til I get some weight off but we believe should be able to go really low nines yet this year.

Rich Wilhelm from Circle R Racing is building the engine and we are hoping to make 1000+hp@8000rpm's. Hoping this combo will run 8.20-8.30's in the quarter when we lean on it.

The truck is 450 pounds heavier than we thought so not gonna happen this year. Jason took all my data from my pass and calculated and it making close to what it needs even with the fouled plugs to run.

Re: My new 528 combo
Besides the odvious tire / suspenion issues your having.
What fuel system you running? What kind of cell? Lines? Etc. Have you cleaned everything out & verified the pump is flowing enough?
I wish you would have dyno'd it that generally make things a little easier to figure out.

Re: My new 528 combo
It's probably a good thing its a little down on power right mow, it gives you a chance to get the truck sorted out before you really put the screws to it. Tons of power without the truck working right is a recipe for disaster. Keep it on moo until you get it to work. You got time to figure it out, the race is long.

Re: My new 528 combo
OK I was happy with it this weekend! Did it spin, yes but it went straight carrying the tires just above the track as it was spinning. The bars are set in the neutral position at the front with reload in PS bar and it didn't push the rim into the pavement so putting them down one hole may solve the spinning. Yes the MPH was low but the plugs were loaded up that's a simple fix, and it probably woulds gained 10 MPH just from running cleanly not to mention what it woulda. Gained had it not spun. I learned I need a chute my brakes did not like slowing it down from 135.
I feel that is all good info so I am happy! Saturday I am gonna put the bars down one hole and clean the airbleeds and will be shutting down at 1000' til I get a chute. THE TRUCK is finally coming around which is pleasing and the MPH. And ET. Will follow suit.

Re: My new 528 combo
That's all that matters, as long as your happy with the progress your making with the truck and having fun what else can you ask for. Just keep after it. If I had a nickel for every time my junk didn't do what it was supposed I'd be rich. Just be safe and enjoy the ride.

Re: My new 528 combo
No prob Nick, its getting there. I learned alot since I first started this thread and the 8.20-8.30's was pretty ignorant statement. Realistically once I get the weight down over winter 8.55-8.65 is where I hope it will be, its not gonna happen this year. I realize that now, I would like to see low nines this year and that will make me very happy.

Re: My new 528 combo
If it goes low to mid 9s at weight on a 10.5 tire that's a win.bigblok2000ranger wrote:No prob Nick, its getting there. Re: My new 528 combo
Whats the weight of your truck Eric ?
My 69 Mustang is a heavy car due to it's all steel. The engine is 700hp ( been dynoe'd) and my mph in the 1/4 is 137-138 with 4:10's just to give you a reference.
Good luck on sorting it out, it will just take some time and patience
