converter gonna kill it.
If it will get to 2800 it will run................ With that cam.
I almost got a bigger one like that but I talked to a couple people on here and they thought a 2,500 was best because that's where the torque would roughly peak. That was before I knew about diameter and all that though. Within two years from purchase I can send it back, pay $70 plus the shipping and they will restall it and basically make it a custom converter. The guy I talked to was talking about using a 10.25" diameter body if he restalled it for me. Time will tell what I need to do, its probably going to be real tight as is with just over 2,000 rpm stall.
EDIT- and I have my stock one still, I believe its roughly the same size.

LSA is 109
As for the trans, I'd love to but I have no more $$$ at this point, Mine is just stock. I don't know what may have been done to it before, but I wonder how much of a difference a shift kit would make with the 1/4 mile times. It seemed to shift good going down my road, hope it really kicks when I'm WOT.

I couldn't find it on there website earlier, and they don't show the cam card anymore. How did you like the cam?

Re: What's she gonna run?
It works good , but it will work a good bit better with some exhaust port work............. I liked it a bunch ran great.
But my exhaust was max ported with the stock valves and just a 3 angle valve job on the intake and back cut. No porting on the intake at all.

When I was done with the exhaust ports they were glass smooth, full radius seats, teardropped valve guide, bowls worked over pretty good and everything cleaned upIDT-572 wrote:It works good , but it will work a good bit better with some exhaust port work............. I liked it a bunch ran great.

depending on how your ports flow , it will run very well. Mine was making big torque at around 2500 rpm but was done by 5500............
You carb will hurt you too. When I went from an 850 setting on the intake no spacer to a 2 inch adapter and a 1050 dominator it really woke it up, I drove this thing on the street everywhere. I think it was a 8896 Holley.

Re: What's she gonna run?
Sweet, because I was planning around max torque at 2500. Hence the converter choice and I do recall you talking about the 1050 before. I remember you saying "probably a big no no" but was a carb that big able to run fine with that cam? No hesitation or anything? Nice and responsive?

Hmmm, well when I can, I will make a big step up to something way better and bigger. I was supposed to be trading some stuff for a 850 dp last weekend but the guy didn't call me back.IDT-572 wrote:Yes it drove great, no problem what so ever.

Justin when you plan on taking it to the track ?
Remember its just a number ! Love the truck and have owned and built a bunch of the 67 to 72 body styles.
Also traction along with weight and driving a four by eight sheet of plywood is your enemy !
Me and the kids at school just finished Ratt rodding a 65 long wheel base FE 3 on the tree truck ! old Iron is the coolest and the most fun in my opinion.

Re: What's she gonna run?
The plan is April 27th. I am hoping the lower ride height will help me out with aerodynamics, weight transfer (better stance) and traction. I don't know if I will have wheel hop issues now because of the axle flip I did, I may do something with slapper bars, I really wanted a caltrac setup but we'll see. Open to suggestions on traction control setups.

Keep us posted on the out come . I like the cal tracs, anything to stiffen the front part of the spring.

I will, and I really want to whoop some ass with a truck. I've always had good luck with the car but after 5 years of not driving the f100 I think it's timewhitefield wrote:bb429power wrote:The plan is April 27th. Didn't notice the 12 inch, that definitely won't help his program. What inch is a stock high stall c-6?
I have had 2 10'' factory c6 converter from behind the old 351c 4v engines they was like a 2000 stall.1 came out of my old 71 mustang with the 351c 4v with the sb c6 and the other came out of a 73 mercury montego mx with a 351c 4v sbc6

Re: What's she gonna run?
Low 13's would be my guess.I had a 78 LTDII that ran a best of a 13.26 at 100 mph weighed 4,420 lbs.with me in it.I had a 466 with DOVE-C Heads and the TRW 2404 dished pistons and that same cam.
Later Mark.

Whatever your truck runs on your first outing, disappointment shouldn't enter your mind. This will be your first chance to learn what the truck wants. Every pass will get you more info to work with. Wheelspin? Bogs? Shift points? Carb changes? Timing?, on and on. Just remember to change one thing at a time so you know what works and what doesn't.
Nice truck, BTW.

Re: What's she gonna run?
Way back when... 2001 or 2002 I think... when I had brother kyle's 468 in my 1976 f100 weighed 4300 with me in it ready to race. With a similar setup.... 3.70 gears 11" TCI breakaway converter hardly stalled 1800 rpm foot braking. Cam was 238-248 on a 112 lsa 104 ICL I think. WISECO flat top pistons. DOVE heads stealth intake and a 750 double pumper. Had to spike 93 octane premium with some race gas to keep detonation at bay. Had full 3 exhaust to the rear bumper and flowmaster mufflers.... hedman truck headers... etc 295/50-15 street tires. Stock front and rear suspension. Truck ran 13.00-13.20's with that setup... 60 foots were in the 2.0-2.2 range... engine feel on its face from the converter being so tight at the lite. Neat thing was not spinning the street tires off the line. Had a nice finishline charge though... ran 105 mph or so to the 1/4 stripe... was always fun chasing down and surprising cars that had faster short times than me with the truck setup that way. Main thing is to go out there and have fun. Im guessing you will run mid to low 13's. After a little practice...

Re: What's she gonna run?
Pshhh practice... and I can relate to the "chasing them down" thing. The maverick has a stock converter in it, it's always been a dog off the line, I'm talking 2.0 60ft and it should be running high 11's, but as soon as I pass 60 ft I'm gone. I'll have fun as long as everything holds together well, making a clean pass in this truck is going to be a big mark in my book, and I should be able to do a lot of cruising over summer when I am home
