Just go to a joint that has an o-ring assortment and find one that fits in the groove.
Lem how much is the complete oil adapter kit now? i just may pick up a spare

I have the one I took off my 86 when I added the oil cooler (external, not the built in leak). This is the style that uses one big O-ring and a gasket under the bolt head.

X2...O-rings are O-rings...they're either round or square and one material or another. I went to NAPA and bought a box of a couple hundred assorted ones.....

I have two of these adapters, and I was noticing how the oil is routed if you take the plugs out. It appears that the oil by-passes the filter if you hook up a cooler to the adapter. Am I looking at this correctly? Could it bypass the filter completely?

I believe it goes, oil pump, out through adapter, cooler, back into adapter, through filter, from there into the block.

The way it looks is when it comes from the pump to the adapter, it can go to the filter or the cooler. When it comes out of the filter it can goto the motor or the cooler. How is it going to move oil thru the cooler in the configuration? How do most of you guys run an external oil cooler?

You must be missing a relief or bypass valve. Mine has a bypass valve that will bypass the cooler if it is blocked or too restricted. Even the infamous water to oil cooler has one. I am not going to try to take mine off for pictures unless I need it off for another reason.

I have one 90* deal and one for the line hookup for remote filter. I don't plan on using either if somebody needs it. Maybe il take a pic and post them up.

Is this new or used? I wish for would have a part number as a service kit to replace the o-rings. Mines like 15 years old. I would feel real safe replacing the o-rings. Also how much do you want for that. There should be 3 parts to that not counting The o-rings

I wish I saw this last night. I'm back at work now and could match the orings up with a Cat part #. I'll double check how many parts it is when I get home. Or if somebody has the size and measurements on it I could get them today and send you some. I've got a mic with me.

I have orings for the bolt but not the flat ones that are on each end like the filter size. Our largest is maybe 3/4 the size.

Home now...Its an oring on the block side. I'll get the measurements on it for both orings before boxing it up. It got sold this morning.70FB wrote:I have orings for the bolt but not the flat ones that are on each end like the filter size. Our largest is maybe 3/4 the size.
Bolt oring is .075 thick.
and 1.350 inside diameter.
Oring on block side is .1 thick
and 2.625 inside diameter.
Keep in mind guys this is trying to measure a rubber oring.......
