Re: new project! *progress*
2yr old new paint lol.bought it last year from a friend who had all the paint work done and had other projects so he made me a deal i could'nt pass up.all the suspension is new,the floor pans were cleaned and coated with some kinda good bed liner stuff,4spd pedals and crossmember for a t5,new bumpers, tail light rings,etc...lots of new stuff and a truck load of good used parts to pick from.i traded my c4 to a guy on here for all the new interior parts so realy the only big part i need is wheels/tires. not real sure what to put on it but they'll be a very big part of this car.....black on blackcletus66 wrote:Looks good. Re: new project! *progress*
i know it looks like i've done more bad than good but it's comen together.lol. got the brake and fuel system done, front suspension all finished and the cable setup for the t5 in too.got the engine cleaned and some new paint then did the tailhousing swap on the t5,what a bitch! this 01 t5 did'nt have a speedo gear or even a place for one on the housing.i had to cut on the tailshaft to make the little clip work and somehow while doen that the 3-4 gear shift ring went too far forward and got hung in 4th gear,a 30minute job took 3hr's and a lota

Re: new project! *progress*
what should i put in it? i'd think a t5 would work for a 351 street car.bbf-falcon wrote:Nice car. Only 1 Why are you putting one of those cheapass T5's in it?

Re: new project! *progress*
They are just a very weak Tranny. Prone too have a weak 3rd gear. Maybe a Top Loader 4 speed or a nice Tremic 5speed

Re: new project! *progress*
not be'n a smart ass but i would'nt have another toploader 4spd for free. the idea is a nice street car with o/d. now that you mention it this trans has tremec on the top cover.lol.i've never had any trouble with a t5 but i dont treat them llike most do.bbf-falcon wrote:They are just a very weak Tranny. Re: new project! *progress*
Yea,Lots of people feel the same about the t loaders, but I had fairly good luck w/them. I agree w/idea of the overdrive on the street. I think maybe some of the Cobra's had Tremic's in them.

Re: new project! *progress*
One of the most fun vintage Mustangs I have driven was a friends 68 High Country Special replica. It was just a 302 but made a great street car. With 68 having the torque boxes behind the front frame rails and being a coupe it was fairly light and stiff.

Re: new project! *progress*
i did'nt like the pinion offset of the exploder rearend so i cut the long side tube down to the length of the short side and got another axle.the tube would not come out so i cut the sob off, then got the 3"leftovers out and put the tube back in.good coat of por15 and she's ready to go in.

Cool Project. T5 should be fine with street tires, they are toughter than people give them credit for.
